Class reflection.

My experience thru this class has been both fun and educational. Any time you find yourself having fun accomplishing a task makes you think maybe this is what you want to do for the rest of your life. I learned the art of video editing thru the class experience and was quite amazed out how things are really done in the movie world. The magic of editing is a powerful often overlooked tool. The video mash up project was my first real shot at editing. Everything after that has been a love hate trail by fire experience. Looking back down the barrel yes I could have done things differently but I feel my works reflected my abilities with editing. I hope one day my skills are better and sharper. Practice makes perfect. The shot by shot video was a hate relationship. All the editing was left to me and I pulled my hair out. It makes you realize just how complicated even a simple looking shot really is. The amount of planning and execution that must go on during full scale movies is mind blowing. This class has only given me a taste of what that is like and I want more. Thank you for being a great professor and congrats on your first semester at fgcu.

Final project video.

I decided to keep the video down to around three minutes. This is due to the feed back I received in the planning stages of the video. The point is presented quickly and if the video was much longer the point would be dead. Master chief is doing boring everyday things. Going to the bathroom pouring tea and looking at bills are all real life activities that we simply never see master chief do. When we do see a hero or character doing these things they become comical. The audio is meant to sound like radio talk and gun fire being heard inside master chiefs helmet. It shows that he is still connected to the action but is currently being left out. It has been several years since master chief has been in a halo game and with bungie's announcement about halo 4 I felt this video would fit right in. The suit i am wearing is a full leather suit with fitted abs plastic parts over the leather. The plastic is painted to look like master chief. As you can imagine a full leather suit is very hot to wear. Not only that but mobility is limited as well. I feel this video is successful because it gets the point across quickly and in a humorous way. Things I would do different are use a different camera and use a better editing program.
